Ian's Song of the Week #3

Sorry I am late in posting this, it has been a heck of a week!

This week it's Ian's song again and on Monday, this is the one he played while I was getting ready.  But, he had a special reason for playing it, we got a new friend at our house!  Last week, Ian got a green-cheeked conure donated to his classroom, from a lady that couldn't take care of it anymore, and it has lived at our house since then.  Albert Einstein, the conure, came with a really fancy cage that we ended up liking, so Ian is working on finding him a smaller cage so that during the day he can bring Einstein to school with us.  (He was going to be a full-time at school bird, but we realized he would get too lonely after 3:30 every day and we'd have to bring him home.)

Let me tell you, I do NOT like birds.  We have two birds already, Charles Darwin and Marie Curie, that I did not choose to get either.  Charles was on the ground at our school and the kids were being mean to him so Ian picked him up and brought him home (he must have escaped from someone's house because Arizona doesn't have a wild parakeet population).  Then, Ian got Marie to tame Charles a bit but that didn't work and now we have two grumpy, but pretty, parakeets living at our house.

Ian wanted a green-cheeked conure after he realized the parakeets didn't love him as much as he wanted them too and kind of kept to themselves.  He researched it and looked and looked and finally found Einstein on Craigslist (so many birds people are giving away - people, keep your pets, they are your responsibility!).  So, now we have three birds that I'm not particularly fond of, but Einstein is growing on me.

He nods his head yes when we say, "Did we just become best friends?  Yep!" and he asks me, "Whatcha doin'?" when I blow on his feathers.  He likes taking baths in his drinking water, screaming at the top of his lungs and sliding down his cage to torment the dogs until they almost bite his beak.  Ian takes him out every night and lets him sit and watch TV with us, on a perch, and last night I even took him out and let him sit with me while Ian wasn't home.  Like I said, he's growing on me.

So, this is the song Ian played on Monday when we had to leave Einstein and go to work.  He was trying to get him to dance but since Monday, Einstein has decided he likes Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies" the best but I didn't think you'd want me to post that song here.  Oh and by the way, Einstein DOES dance!  (Video for song and lyrics are after the pics at the bottom of this post.)

Update:  I wrote this post yesterday but didn't post it until today so that I would have time to add pictures.  This morning, Einstein bit me, and so now I feel like taking back all the nice things I said about him above.  But, I know he's still learning and it was partly my fault.  I still cried (pregnant remember?) but I'm sure we will be friends again one day.

(The dogs are still learning the rules at our house, regarding the bird, "We don't eat our friends.")

David Bowie "Magic Dance"

You remind me of the babe
What babe? babe with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the babe

I saw my baby, crying hard as babe could cry
What could I do
My baby's love had gone
And left my baby blue
Nobody knew

What kind of magic spell to use
Slime and snails
Or puppy dogs' tails
Thunder or lightning
Then baby said
Dance magic, dance
Dance magic, dance
Put that baby spell on me
Jump magic, jump
Jump magic, jump
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby, make him free

I saw my baby, trying hard as babe could try
What could I do
My baby's fun had gone
And left my baby blue
Nobody knew

What kind of magic spell to use
Slime and snails
Or puppy dog's tails
Thunder or lightning
Then baby said
Dance magic, dance
Dance magic, dance
Put that baby spell on me
Jump magic, jump
Jump magic, jump
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby, make him free
Dance magic, dance
Jump magic, jump
Put that baby spell on me (ooh)

You remind me of the babe
What babe? the babe with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the babe

Dance magic, dance, ooh ooh ooh
Dance magic, dance magic, ooh ooh ooh
Dance magic

What kind of magic spell to use
Slime and snails
Or puppy dog tails
Thunder or lightning
Something frightening

Dance magic, dance
Dance magic, dance
Put that baby spell on me
Jump magic, jump
Jump magic, jump
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby make him free
Dance magic, dance
Jump magic, jump
Jump magic, jump
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby
Dance magic, dance
Dance magic, dance
Dance magic
Slap that slap that baby make him free
Dance magic, dance
