Today on Moms on Mondays I am featuring Denise from Wise Looks.  Her head wraps are just too cute!  Check out her post and then go shop!

What is the name of your shop and how can we find you?
My shop is Wise Looks and I am also on Instagram.
Tell us about what you make/sell in your shop.
I make and sell hair accessories - from fabric head wraps, to glitter clips and stretchy glitter head bands, items for all ages. I have babies and adults who all wearing the same products.

How/why did you start making these products and open this shop?

I started making these products after my first daughter was born, and after my second, I expanded to new products. I have always loved Etsy, and supporting other small businesses, and thought it was the perfect place to begin to grow my company!

How long have you been in business?

I started in 2010, then took some time off for awhile, and opened again after my second daughter was born and broadened my company to making new clip styles, head wraps, etc.

What is your background (college/career/etc.)?

I majored in Fashion Merchandising at Seattle Pacific University. Most of my jobs have been in visual merchandising/display. I took many sewing, textiles and design classes in college so that helped with my decision and interest in hair accessory design.

Tell us a little bit about your family.

I am married to my college sweetheart, we have been married almost 7.5 years and have two daughters who are 4 and almost 2. My husband is from Washington. We met in Seattle at college and moved back to my home state of California right before our daughter was born (a month before she was born, it was crazy!).

How does this company help your family?  Or you?

It helps me fill an outlet for creativity, design and my passion for fashion and creativity. I hope to grow this company so that it can also be a financial blessing to my family. I am using the passion and gifts God has given me, which gives me great joy and strength.

Did you ever think you'd be doing this?  What did you think you'd be doing instead?

I didn't! I didn't think I would be working when I had children, I had hopes of staying at home with them, like I do, but I am so thankful this opportunity came to be!

Does anyone help you with your shop?

My husband is a great help with shipping, and business advice, but other than that its just me!

How do you find time to run your shop and create products?

I am very productive during nap time and after hours. I am always trying to brainstorm ideas, chat with friends and look around in stores, and online, at trends and styles and then try and recreate them!

What do you love about this business?

There is always something new to learn, companies who encourage me and that I can learn from - and it's fun!

What is the most challenging part of this business?

You will not always hear "Yes" and the first "No" was hard, and still is. It's challenging to continue to be unique and set yourself apart from other companies who are trying to do the same things. It is also hard to find time amidst being a stay at home mom on a daily basis.

Where do you see your shop in the future?

I hope to see my products in stores, on websites and featured on blogs. {Woo!} I hope to grow into new product lines and have a large fan and customer base.

Tell us your favorite product or your most favorite thing you've created?

I love the double sided head wraps. I came up with this idea on my own and it's been fun designing the different combinations and patterns.

Do you have any advice for future mom-entrepreneurs?

Be strong. Be yourself, and do not compare your shop to others. Stick to your own path and set goals.

What are some of YOUR favorite shops/products, besides your own?

I like James Vincent Design Co., ChildHOODS and Freshly Picked.

Thanks Denise!
