Moms on Mondays - Karla from Karla Storey

Today I am happy to feature Karla from Karla Storey!  She is a new mom-run shop that makes the cutest tees, logos and prints.  She sent me this cute and comfy Mom Life shirt and I just love it.  Read her post below and then go shop!

What is the name of your shop and how can we find you?

My shop is Karla Storey and I'm also on Instagram.

Tell us about what you make/sell in your shop.

I screen print shirts, tanks and blouses with fun quotes to remind us to let loose every once in a while and have fun! I also hand letter personalized home decor.

How/why did you start making these products and open this shop?

I was born to create. I love trying new things, learning new skills and screen printing just caught my attention! I have designed countless shirts for other companies, and thought to myself, “Wait a minute, why am I not selling my own designs?!”

How long have you been in business?

Only since February 2016! My hubby actually bought me a screen printer for Valentine's Day! I know, romantic, right?! ;) However, I have had my “hand lettering” business for a couple years.

What is your background (college/career/etc.)?

I graduated from University of Central Florida with a major in Event Management and Hospitality and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I also have my Cosmetology license.

Tell us a little bit about your family.

I am a stay at home mom to 3 crazies - 2 boys & 1 girl. We are licensed foster parents and, crazy story, we are adopting our first foster placement in May! My husband is a high school pastor and we love adventure!

How does this company help your family?  Or you?

It's definitely a creative outlet for me! My tiny, small business is growing fairly quickly & has also provided our family with a second source of income.

Did you ever think you'd be doing this?  What did you think you'd be doing instead?

Not at all! I thought by this point in my life I would be a famous wedding planner. ;) Never in my life did I think I would be married, with 3 kids, and a stay at home mom in the t-shirt business.

Does anyone help you with your shop?

My husband is by far my hardest working “employee” (sorry babe, your still working for free!).

How do you find time to run your shop and create products?

Time management is huge! I use nap times, and after I tuck the kiddos in for bed as my work time!

What do you love about this businesses?

I love the message my shirts provide for my customers, and that they can use them as a talking piece to share their faith. Also, proceeds from every single purchase are donated to feeding, educating, providing shelter, etc. to orphans.

What is the most challenging part of this business?

Finding the time to get everything I want accomplished!

Where do you see your shop in the future?

I would love to have more wholesale accounts and have my designs in boutiques!

Tell us your favorite product or your most favorite thing you've created?

Our “messy bun & Jesus kinda day” shirts are by far my favorite (& most popular)! I am also in the works of creating a brand new fitness wear line with workout tanks! Those will be launching soon!

Thanks Karla!
